Single item packager for SCORM

Overview

The "SCORMisizer" is a wizard that turns your single file document or digital asset into a SCORM 1.2 package in a few easy steps. No XML editing is involved. The created package is a complete SCORM 1.2 conformant package that includes a manifest and metadata. When the package is delivered in a SCORM conformant LMS, its status can be set to "completed" automatically, or you can choose to add a prompt and a button the user must click to signify that they have seen the document or asset. In that case, the status will be set to "completed" only if the user clicks that button.

Screen shots

This application does not know anything about the internals or structure of the document or asset. Unlike products such as, for example, Aspen LCMS 2.1 that can break a structured Word document into a series of topics rendered in HTML, this application will just embed the document or asset as is into a SCORM "wrapper" web page, and then construct the SCORM package around that web page.

Technical info

Compatible assets
Any single file asset that can be natively delivered by a web browser. This includes text files (.txt), graphic files (.jpg, .gif, etc.), single-file web pages (.htm, .html), etc. Depending on the server settings and the plug-ins or viewers available on the client system, other file types can be delivered this way, such as Adobe® Acrobat® (.pdf), media files, Microsoft® Word or Excel documents, etc.
In addition, if you created a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or PowerPoint XP and saved it as a HTML presentation, the SCORMisizer can turn it into a SCORM package. Just select the "root" file of the presentation as the asset.
Note: ToolBook™ applications do not require this tool, since they be exported as a SCORM package through a one-click option in the ToolBook™ authoring enviromnment.
